Tax Support for Professional Firms Print

Mercury supports other professional advisers, including accountants, lawyers and IFA’s by providing a source of practical tax advice and expertise in relation to a wide range of situations. We do not compete with other professional firms as we do not offer accounting or tax compliance services. As a tax consulting firm there are many ways in which we can add value to your practice:

  • As a sounding board in relation to difficult tax problems (Access to expertise)
  • By giving you access to a range of specific tax solutions (Competitive advantage)
  • A source of technical or tax structuring advice to supplement your own services, delivered either through you or directly to the underlying client as you prefer (This includes transactional support, M&A, employee incentive, succession, transfer pricing in relation to SME’s, residence, domicile and offshore issues, employee tax and expatriate issues and VAT)
  • Assistance and advice in resolving difficult tax investigations from District level through specialist departments to SCI CoP 8 and CoP 9 (Civil Investigation of Fraud) (Reassurance, resource and support)
  • A source of Risk Management advice in relation to the tax element of your practice (Systems assurance, reducing the incidence of HMRC enquiries and risk of compliance failure)
  • Friendly support in relation to prospective claims and management of claims including negotiation

It is not our policy to charge retainers or offer telephone helplines for a subscription. We welcome telephone enquiries and will not charge without your prior agreement. You always know what our advice will cost so there can be no nasty surprises. We will always say if something is beyond our field of expertise or our resources, but we will invariably know someone with the specialist skills to assist, where we can’t. As we do not compete with smaller professional firms there is no cause for concern regarding “client poaching”. We see it as our role to supplement and augment your client relationships.
